Destructive testing services of the metals testing laboratory

metals laboratory To determine the main physical, mechanical, quality and performance characteristics of materials, the accredited testing laboratory of KazExpertProm LLP carries out a range of destructive tests and studies. Their result is a forecast of how the products will behave under real operating conditions, and of the suitability of the entire item from which the sample was taken.

The studies are carried out by certified specialists. Only certified equipment is used, verified and calibrated annually by the metrology service of NaCEkS JSC.

A tensile testing machine is test equipment used for static tests and for determining the physical properties of items under axial tension, flattening, compression, bending, fracture and so on.

A pendulum impact tester is a laboratory test device for impact toughness tests of specimens and their elements. During the test a striker of a set weight, rotating around a fixed axis, falls onto the specimen from a set height and then swings like a pendulum, which is recorded on a special scale.

Mechanical tests are static and dynamic destructive testing methods used to determine the strength characteristics of items and their elements.

Mechanical tests are one of the most sought-after types of destructive testing carried out by the laboratory. They are used to determine the characteristics of metal products, the quality of raw materials and of welded joints during production, the suitability of welding methods and modes, the qualification of welders, and the strength characteristics of parent and welding materials and of the weld itself. The list of tests is as follows:

  • Static tensile testing of the metal in various zones of a welded joint and of weld metal (GOST 6996-66)
  • Impact bending testing of the metal in various zones of a welded joint and of weld metal (notched specimens) (GOST 6996-66)
  • Impact bending testing of parent metal at low, room and elevated temperatures (GOST 9454-78), Charpy impact testing (ST RK ASTM A 370-2011)
  • Static tensile testing of parent metal (GOST 1497-84)
  • Static tensile testing of pipes (GOST 10006-80)
  • Static bend testing of a welded joint (GOST 6996-66)
  • Static tensile testing of plastics (GOST 11262-80)
  • Flattening testing of pipes (GOST 8695-75)
  • Static tensile and bend testing of welded joints of plastic pipes, and flattening testing of socket joints.

On completion of the work the KazExpertProm testing laboratory for metal inspection, diagnostics and welding issues official test reports.
